BIDU-SW Plans Autonomous Vehicle Testing in Kowloon East with CTS Bus

BIDU-SW's (09888.HK) (BIDU.US) intelligent driving unit has applied for autonomous vehicle testing in the Kai Tak Development Area and Kowloon Bay, according to a document from the Kwun Tong District Council.

The testing will be jointly carried out by China Travel Tours Transportation Services (CTS Bus) under China Tourism Group and Baidu, with an aim to align with the Hong Kong government's smart city development goals and promote smart mobility applications.

To comprehensively test and validate autonomous vehicles under various traffic conditions, the testing will take place from Monday to Saturday at 1 a.m.-5 a.m., 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and 8 p.m.-11 p.m., as well as on Sundays at 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

The test route will cover a total distance of about 23 km with eight designated non-passenger stops. Six autonomous vehicles will be deployed initially. The fleet size and test routes may further expand in the future.
