The Development Bureau of Hong Kong (DEVB) is conducting a comprehensive review of the Operation Building Bright 2.0 to draw up a new subsidy scheme, Financial Secretary Paul Chan said. The government will earmark $3 billion accordingly. Moreover, it will allocate $1 billion to extend the Lift Modernisation Subsidy Scheme to provide subsidies to property owners. The government has just announced the long-term housing arrangements for those affected from the Tai Po fire, and earmarked $4 billion accordingly, he added. To reduce the risk of bid-rigging in building repair works, the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) will launch an enhanced version of "Smart Tender" in 2H26. In addition to providing a more rigorous pre-qualified list, the URA will render professional advice and support for owners in engaging consultants and contractors.
