Financial Secretary Paul Chan announced that the revised estimate of total government expenditure for 2025-26 was HKD789.2 billion, lower than the original estimate by HKD33.1 billion. Of this, recurrent expenditure was HKD572.4 billion, lower than the original estimate by HKD15.7 billion. Taking into account the issuance of government bonds of HKD155 billion and repayments of HKD51.7 billion, it is expected that the Consolidated Account will register a surplus of HKD2.9 billion instead of a deficit of about HKD67 billion as originally estimated. Fiscal reserves are expected to be HKD657.2 billion by March 31, 2026. AAStocks Financial News |
